The AT&T 5G Helmet

For years, telecom companies told the world about the coming 5G revolution and all the things it would enable. But today, few can actually point to a great 5G innovation with a human story at its core.

So instead of talking about how connecting can change everything with AT&T 5G, we set out to prove it.

After 2.5 years of R&D, we’ve created the first-ever 5G-powered helmet to help Deaf football players communicate in-game. Using 5G and AR, the helmet enables Deaf and hard-of-hearing players to see parts of the game, hearing players hear.

Sound of Silence Launch Film

As part of introducing the world to this groundbreaking innovation, we created a powerful 60-second launch film, featuring the Gallaudet football team — an all-deaf university who were the inventors of the huddle.

To anchor it, we found an epic, iconic track with the perfect message to convey the emotional sentiment: Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel.

Not only is the song about the consequences of not being able to communicate, Paul Simon himself has in recent years dealt with hearing loss and resonated with the endeavor.

Tech Explainer Film

The full 360-campaign also included radio, social content, print, and a tech explainer video, taking people through the intricacies of the technology and how it works — realized in stunning 3D graphics.
